I’m Ice Cream

Patrick, the boys and I have been slowly moving into a new house from the on-campus apartment where we’ve been since we moved to Faulkner. It’s an understatement to say we are excited about the new house. We can’t believe that we get to live in such a great place.

At Faulkner, all dorm parents have to stay year-round, so I have to be in the dorm until June 30th, my last day. Well we closed on the house even before we went to the World Series, so we feel like we are having to wait a long time to enjoy being there. We pretty much have stayed there during the day & just headed back to the dorm every night.

Patrick especially hates coming back each night. He loves having a house. Yesterday I told him that I know how he hates having to leave and that I really wouldn’t mind for him to just stay.

But he said that staying at the new house without me would be like eating an ice cream cone without the ice cream…he didn’t want to miss out on the best part.

It made my week…and it reminded me that as long as we have each other, we’ll still have ice cream. A cone, too, would be nice…but nothing compared to the best part.
